One Shagbaor Ugosor Japhet, a real estate agent in Benue state has been arrested by the state police command over the murder of a 200-level student of the Benue State University, Erekaa Naomi Dooshima.
The 25-year-old student was declared missing in February 2023, and three days later, on Wednesday, February 22, her lifeless body was found in a fenced land in a vicinity opposite the school.
The lifeless body of a 300-level Mass Communication student of the Benue State University, Erekaa Naomi Dooshima, has been found a few days after she was reported missing.
According to a post shared by Benue activist, Ukan Kurugh, a phone, ID card, and blood-stained clothes allegedly belonging to the student were found around Rahama clinic opposite Medical school in Makurdi on Tuesday, February 21.
In another post made on Wednesday, February 22, Mr. Kurugh said her corpse is currently being exhumed by operatives of the Benue State Police Command.

Upon investigation, the real estate agent was arrested and it was discovered that the student had given him the sum of N150,000 to help her secure an apartment. During interrogation, he confessed to killing Dooshima after using the money to stake a bet and lost it all.
He stated that when he couldn't provide the house or the money, he invited the deceased for a meeting at night and cut her several times with a machete which led to her death. He thereafter took her body with her iPhone and dumped her on the street to make it look like someone else killed her.
He was arrested after the POS machine Dooshima used in making the transfer to him was tracked.
