We Don't Know Why ASUU is on Strike— Minister of State for Education

The Federal Government have stated in Abuja that it was still not aware of the reasons behind the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)

It was further stated that Universities founded and being funded by the State government have no business in joining the federal universities on strike.

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, speaking in Abuja also told the Union that it lacked basic rights on dictating how their salaries should be paid who he further explained are employees should be paid by the government who are their employers.

He further stated that the Federal Government has limited resources and cannot borrow money to pay ASUU, saying that the government can only borrow money to fund infrastructures like railways and other critical infrastructure where they can get returns from.
