BREAKING: OAU Won’t Resume Until FG Orders


The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has disclosed that it would not resume for academic activities until the federal government order the reopening of schools in the country back.

Recall that the leadership of academic staff union of university(ASUU) had earlier ordered the suspension of it’s nationwide strike which has disrupted academic activities in all federal universities in the country for over nine months.

Speaking with the university Public Relation Officer (PRO), Prof Abiodun Olarenwaju on Wednesday in a phone conversation, he disclosed to DAILY GIST that the university will note resume for academic activities until the federal government reopen schools back and will announce date to public once the time comes.

The university management shut down the school campus in March following the order from federal government in a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

The federal government reopened all schools in August after a surge reduction in COVID-19 cases, However federal universities could not resume as result of the lingering ASUU strike

All efforts for university students to return to classes however suffer setback as the federal government on Monday through the presidential task force (PTF) led by Boss Mustapa ordered new directive to all schools to shut down until at least January 18th to curb the the spread of the COVID-19 second wave in the country.
