ASUU moves to Suspend Strike, orders branches to Vote

The National State Coordinating committee (NSCC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities at its meeting on the 18th December, 2020 deliberated extensively on the following issues arising from the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, the 2013 MoU and related issues and decided to conduct a referendum at the branch congresses to decide on the next line of action:

I. Funding for Revitalization of Public Universities
ii. Earned Academic Allowances (EAA)
III. Salary Shortfall
IV. State Universities
V. Visitation Panels.
Vi. Reconstitution of the 2009 FGN/ASUU renegotiation committee
Vii. University Transparency and Accountablity Solution (UTAS)
viii. Withheld Salaries and Non remittance of Check off dues.

Each member is expected to vote at a well advertised special Congress for either suspending the strike immediately without condition(s), suspend with conditions or continue with the strike.

The voting is ongoing and some branches have declared their stance. ASUU will present it's position to the Federal Government in it's next meeting scheduled for this week.
