SPORTS: 2022 W’Cup qualifiers to begin at a new date

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak across the world, the governing body for World football, FIFA has fixed a new date for the commencement of the Second round of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers which was formerly set for October 2020.

The new date is May 31, 2020 and it will end September 2021.

The first and second leg of the Third Round will be played between November 8 and 16, 2021.

In the Third round, 10 groups of winners from the Second group will be drawn into five home-and-away ties. The winners of each tie will be advanced to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

For the Second Round of the African qualifiers, the Eagles are grouped with Cape Verde, Central African Republic and Liberia.

The Eagles will have to work hand in hand with Coach Gernot Rohr to move past their contenders in Group C to feature in the tournament for a seventh time.
